Core principles of the TerraRoots mission
1. Self- Determination Through Economic Sovereignty.
- Prioritize investments that reduce dependency on extraction foreign aid and network with countries of the global south.
- Work closely with African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA).
- Support Indigenous-led enterprises (e.g dealing with renewable energy or regenerative agriculture) that align with biocultural rights, ensuring profits within communities.
2. Interconnected Resilience.
- Address Africa’s disproportionate displacement crisis (9 of 10 globally neglected crises are African) through localised aid.
- Foster South- South solidarity replicating initiatives like Turkey’s aid shipments to Sudan and Ashinagas education networks.
3. Regenerative Stewardship.
- Invest in projects that protect indigenous ecology and medicines and work on green agendas that will help marginalised communities.
Why TerraRoots?
12.7 billion dollars in US aid cuts to sub- Saharan Africa in 2024 has crippled HIV programs, nutrition centers, and displacement response.
Sovereign wealth funds control 9 .1 trillion plus dollars globally, yet less than 1% targets Indigenous communities. TerraRoots disrupts this via:
- Crowding-in, not crowding-out.
- Partnering with ethical companies.
- Pay- it -Forward Mandate- Grantees (contributing 5% of profits to future TerraRoots projects, ensuring perpetual impact).
“We face either the collapse of our ancestral worlds or the rebirth of sovereignty. TerraRoots chooses rebirth”
